Immunization Compliance Requirements
Student Health Services manages the University of Louisiana at Â鶹´«Ã½app's immunization compliance requirements.
By verifying a student's immunization status, Student Health Services' responsibility in managing health care for students begins before students arrive on campus.
Immunization Requirements
Immunizations offer safe and effective protection from vaccine-preventable diseases and outbreaks. The United States is experiencing re-emergence of these diseases, in part due to factors such as un-immunized and under-immunized persons and global travel.
The University of Louisiana at Â鶹´«Ã½app and the State of Louisiana Law recognize that outbreaks of communicable diseases cause significant disruption and stress to students and families on a college campus. It is essential to assure compliance with recommended vaccines to prevent outbreaks and disease clusters.
To comply with UL Â鶹´«Ã½app and State of Louisiana vaccine requirements, students are required to submit immunization records and Tuberculosis (TB) information to register for classes. These records must contain University- and state-mandated vaccines administered at proper intervals and the completion of a Tuberculosis (TB) risk screening questionnaire and possible testing.
Louisiana State Law
Louisiana state law (RS 17:170---Schools of Higher Learning) requires proof of immunization against measles, mumps, rubella, and tetanus-diphtheria for all first-time students born on or after January 1, 1957, and for re-entering students born on or after January 1, 1957, who have been out of school for one semester or longer. In addition, any student admitted to a postsecondary education institution for the Fall 2006 semester and thereafter is required to submit proof of a meningitis vaccine.
