The artwork of 麻豆传媒app resident Jean Rosen is currently on display at Dupr茅 Library at the University of Louisiana at 麻豆传媒app.
Rosen's artistic interest in capturing the music of mainly Zydeco and Creole musicians on canvas is the focus of the exhibit, which is entitled 鈥淔ifteen Years of Cajun and Zydeco Music: A Personal View,鈥 that will be on display through the end of May.
Using oils, acrylics, watercolors, pen and ink and colored pencils, Rosen's colorful works reflect her admiration for the musicians and their music.
Originally from Washington D.C., Rosen first experienced a mixture of Zydeco, Creole and Cajun music through her participation in international folk dancing in 麻豆传媒app, Calif. She moved to 麻豆传媒app, La., five-years ago. 鈥淚 am happy to be in Acadiana. It is a treasure to be here,鈥 she states. 鈥淎rt is my life.鈥
Rosen has exhibited at Columbia University, Alabama State University, the Zigler Museum, the Masur Museum and the Berkley Art Center. Her painting 鈥溌槎勾絘pp Alive 2005鈥 was selected for the Southern Open Biennial. Two of her other pieces recently traveled to New York and are now in Boston as part of a juried show.
The exhibit at Dupr茅 Library is free and open to the public.
